Nicola Mann: Counselling & Hypnotherapy in Suffolk

Nicola Mann: Integrative Counselling & Hypnotherapy in Suffolk

I'm Nicola Mann. I run NJM Coaching & Hypnotherapy from Ipswich, Suffolk. I work with adults who want real change in their lives. Maybe that's getting on top of anxiety. Maybe it's working through trauma or building self-esteem. Sometimes people just need help finding direction.

I blend traditional talking therapies with hypnotherapy. Why both? Because we've got conscious patterns and subconscious ones, and lasting change needs to address both. What I'm really offering is a calm, confidential space where you can actually explore what's going on and figure out how to move forward.

My work helping people find calm and confidence again

I've always been curious about why we think and feel the way we do. More importantly, how does change actually happen? Not the surface stuff, but real, lasting change. That curiosity led me to train as an integrative counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist.

Here's what I learned early on: everyone's different. One approach doesn't work for everyone. That's why I founded NJM the way I did, giving clients options. Some need deep therapeutic work. Others want practical tools they can use tomorrow. Both are valid. We figure out what works for you.

Setting up in Ipswich

After qualifying, I opened my practice in Ipswich. Right from the start, I offered both in-person sessions (I've got a purpose-built therapy room that's peaceful and private) and online appointments. Accessibility mattered to me. Still does.

The work grew naturally. Now I've got clients across the UK who prefer remote sessions. Makes sense for lots of reasons - convenience, privacy, comfort. I've also kept learning. Trauma recovery, EMDR, stress management. This field moves fast, and I want to stay current with what actually works.

Five things clients say make my approach different

  1. I pull from multiple methods: Counselling, psychotherapy, hypnotherapy. Sessions get tailored to what you need, not what I'm most comfortable with.
  2. The space feels genuinely safe: Clients use words like warm, supportive, empowering. That's not by accident.
  3. Flexible options: In person or online. Your call.
  4. We track real results: We set goals together, monitor progress, celebrate wins. None of this is vague.
  5. I've worked with complex stuff: Anxiety, trauma, grief, low self-esteem. I've sat with people through all of it.

Five things I know about change

  • Safe space comes first: Change happens when you feel seen and heard. Not before.
  • You don't need a crisis: Prevention matters. Self-awareness matters. Therapy isn't just for emergencies.
  • The subconscious is powerful: Hypnotherapy unlocks things that surprise people. Including me sometimes.
  • Everyone moves at their own pace: Rushing healing doesn't work. Never has.
  • Compassion beats pressure every time: You create conditions for growth. You don't force it.

What I'd do differently

Looking back? I'd have created educational content much sooner. Blogs, videos, workshops explaining how this actually works. There's too much mystery around therapy and hypnotherapy. People need to understand it before they can trust it.

I'd also have built relationships with other wellbeing professionals locally from day one. That network approach - where clients can access joined-up support - makes such a difference. Should've started building those connections earlier.

Where NJM is heading

I'm expanding online offerings. Group sessions for confidence building, stress reduction, habit change. Also developing short courses teaching self-hypnosis and mindfulness tools for everyday use. Not everyone wants one-to-one therapy. Doesn't mean they shouldn't have access to good techniques.

My vision? Simple. When someone in Suffolk (or anywhere, really) thinks "I need to feel calmer, more confident, more in control," I want them to think of NJM first.
