I'm Cameron Hay (alongside my brother Nick, formerly a director), co-founder of Finomatic Consulting, and we specialise in financial analysis, reporting and forecasting for:
Based in London, we help fast-growing tech firms build robust financial infrastructure so they can make data-driven decisions and communicate clearly with investors.
I come from a background in accountancy and financial modelling, and over the years I saw how many startups struggle not because they lack vision, but because their financial foundations can't keep pace. That's the gap Finomatic closes.
Nick and I are passionate about the intersection of finance, technology and data. As a family business, our journey is personal: we wanted to create a firm that speaks the language of tech founders and investors, rather than forcing them to conform to traditional finance jargon.
We noticed that fast-growing businesses often lag in their reporting systems. As they scale, the finance function becomes a genuine bottleneck. Rather than letting that slow growth, we decided to specialise in helping startups and private equity backed tech firms build modern FP&A (financial planning and analysis) systems:
We launched Finomatic in 2022 (incorporated in May 2022) as Finomatic Consulting Ltd.
We've designed Finomatic's model around a few core pillars:
We pride ourselves on being hands-on partners, not distant consultants. Many clients find that our work reduces their monthly reporting time by days and gives clarity when they previously felt overrun by financial complexity.
We began modestly. Nick and I each brought technical financial skill, and we looked for early clients in the startup and tech niche. Our value was visible when we delivered clarity where others saw chaos. Over time, referrals and testimonials from those early clients helped us win more engagement.
Because we're a family business, we emphasised trust and relationship in each engagement. We also committed to being comfortable in the "messy middle", stepping in where finance systems were broken, cleaning up data, building structure, then scaling forward.
We sponsor our family's football team (Ayr United) as a visible sign of our roots and community commitment.
Our marketing leans heavily on; Case studies, Client quotes and Content (video demos of dashboards, KPI walkthroughs)
This shows what we actually do in action.
Measure impact from day one by tracking ROI on your own work, such as time saved, improved forecasting, and stronger fundraising outcomes. Start creating content early; teaching through demos, dashboards, and examples of “what good looks like” makes it easier to attract clients. Hire selectively in the early stages, as sustaining client relationships and scaling capacity require the right people and structure. Standardise your approach with a core FP&A playbook instead of rebuilding processes for every client. Finally, manage scope carefully, clients often try to expand projects, so it’s important to push back and agree on clear phases.
We plan to build more modular products:
These help clients adopt quickly. We want to deepen our influence in the investor community so that funds recommend Finomatic to portfolio companies.
We also aim to expand our footprint geographically. While based in London, our model is digital, so we can work with startups throughout the UK, Europe and beyond.
In the longer term, I envision establishing a finance operating system (not software we own, but a methodology plus tooling suite) that becomes the standard for tech startups wanting investor-grade reporting.
Finomatic Consulting focuses on providing financial analysis, reporting, and forecasting specifically for technology startups, scale-ups, and private portfolio companies based in the UK.
Absolutely. Finomatic excels at working with companies that have disconnected systems and messy data. They specialise in bringing order to financial chaos, centralising your information, and building a professional, clear reporting structure from the ground up.
Unlike generalist firms, Finomatic speaks the language of tech startups. They focus on modern FP&A systems, investor readiness, and key SaaS metrics like churn, CAC, and LTV. Their goal is to build scalable tools that your team can manage long term.
They play a crucial role in preparing your company for fundraising. This includes creating investor-grade reports, acting as the main point of contact for investor due to diligence, and ensuring your financial story is clear, compelling, and transparent.
While Finomatic is based in London, their operating model is digital. This allows them to work effectively with startups and scale-ups located anywhere in the UK, Europe, and even further afield.
